If you're interested in writing a novel for children or teens, but you're not sure where to begin, this class could be the launching pad you need. Using writing prompts, reading assignments, and discussion (and, if you're good, maybe some arts and crafts), we will uncover the voices, characters, and stories that can help launch your book project. Class will cover definition of genres, a short history of children's literature, character and story development, and an introduction to story structure.
Instructor Bio: Kristin Nilsen has been a children's librarian, a children's bookseller, a children's book buyer, and a child. Making it almost inevitable that a children's book would eventually fall out of her brain, despite swearing to others that she never would/could do it.
This is an 6-week course hosted Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm.
